The Stone Mill 1792 is a WeddingWire Couples' Choice award-winning venue in Glenville, PA. The historic building and vintage interior makes it the perfect backdrop for a rustic wedding. Check out our interview with owner Pam Hepner below.
1. What inspired you to open a wedding venue?
I've been a hairstylist for 30 years, and I saw the venue as an opportunity to expand my salon & spa business. When I looked deeper into the property, I found that the last owners had added zoning for weddings and events. We renovated the property for a year, and then opened up the calendar.
2. What do you enjoy most about hosting weddings?
I often say that I am in love with love because I truly enjoy every aspect of hosting weddings. I enjoy giving couples tours of the property, planning a great event, and of course, seeing it all come together in the presence of family and friends.
3. What makes your venue unique?
The Stone Mill 1792 is a beautiful woodland property that sits on ten acres in a low valley. The space is cool and quiet, but what really makes us unique is the history. We use a historic building from 1792-hence the name-for preparations and weddings. We also offer a tented outdoor option for couples looking to enjoy the scenery.
4. What advice do you have for couples as they prepare for their wedding?
The best advice I can offer to couples is to communicate with one another. Discuss your style and preferences for your wedding day as a couple, so that you tour and ultimately select a venue that matches your ideal ceremony.
Another piece of advice I would offer is to seek out recommendations from professionals and trusted friends. Ask friends what vendors they used for their events. The recommendations you receive from people who have gone through the process of planning and hosting a wedding will lead you in the right direction.
5. Why is wedding insurance important for couples?
Wedding insurance provides important protection for couples on their wedding day. Coverage ensures couples don't have to be afraid of the unexpected things that could happen during their wedding day or weekend. It also offers a crucial layer of protection from things that could happen after the event like alcohol related accidents or venue property damage. Some policies can even protect couples from losing money in the event of an unavoidable cancellation.
6. What do you enjoy most about working with Keller-Brown Insurance?
Keller-Brown Insurance is an amazing resource to us. We know we can share their expertise with our couples, and we always feel confident in their guidance. They also offer the convenience of digital insurance certificates, which is extremely useful for the busy wedding industry.
