Based in York, PA, AllSearchis one of the nation's leading recruiters for industrial sales manufacturing, HVAC, and construction/building product. The company's mission is to bring together amazing employees with amazing companies.
We talked to CEO Jason Connors, and Operations Manager Brian Connors about the company, what business owners can expect from a staffing business, and what the future holds for job candidates and hiring managers.
Keller-Brown: Describe your business, who you serve, and your mission.
Jason Connors: AllSearch Recruiting is a national search firm, physically based in York, Pennsylvania, but with a "work from anywhere" model for our internal staff. Our team specializes in recruiting and placing skilled talent in a handful of practice areas that include HVAC sales and mechanical service, construction and building products, manufacturing and engineering, plastics, industrial sales and management, facilities services, general sales, and insurance.
Our mission is simple: To Change Lives! We get to find amazing careers for amazing talent with strong companies in desperate need of employees. Our internal team has the ability to change the lives of both job seekers and employers on a daily basis and we take that very seriously. Through that same passion to change lives, we have also created an internal initiative called AllSearch Cares, where we change lives in our local communities through charitable work and giving.

Keller-Brown: You have offices in a few other states. What makes York, PA, special?
Jason Connors: Back in 2002, we founded the business in Baltimore, and then over the years opened up physical locations in Boston and Denver. But ultimately, when it came time to centralize our operations, we knew that York was the place to be.
Our owners lived and raised their families in York. We have plenty of alumni from York College working for us (including one of our owners) and we just love the area. So, when we had an opportunity to move our corporate headquarters from Baltimore to York, we were excited. This move meant that we were able to create strong professional jobs right here in York!
And as our local staff grew, so did our ability to support local businesses and charities. We support many local restaurants for team meals, and we also support various local entertainment venues for our team gatherings. In addition, we give back to a variety of local charities through our AllSearch Cares initiative, and we look for small and local vendors as often as possible for all the services that we use to support our company.

Keller-Brown: Why should employers invest the money to hire a staffing firm instead of doing it themselves?
Jason Connors: Hiring is always hard, but in today's candidate-driven market, it has never been harder to find talent. When a company is looking to hire, that task usually ends up as a temporary side project for a hiring manager or an HR rep. At a search firm like AllSearch, we recruit and hire talent 24/7. It is all we do, so we are absolute experts in the task. Because of this, we have every resource available to find, qualify and secure the talent that our customers need.
When you invest in a search firm, you are getting more than just a hire. Built into the fee are so many other value-added services. For example, we can help write better job descriptions as we are experts in this area. We also have the ability to optimize job postings to attract talent that a standard job posting can't reach. Our skilled recruiters know how to sell your company and your open job and are relentless in their efforts to secure phone conversations with skilled candidates. We have an internal database and access to passive talent that is not actively looking and that you would never know existed. Our recruiters are skilled in screening talent to identify fit and/or red flags. We help engage candidates for our clients throughout the interview process so they don't disappear. We even help in the offer and negotiation stage. And we offer a guarantee on top of all of this, should the hire not work out. All of this for one fee.
Keller-Brown: What are the advantages for business owners of using a staffing agency like yours versus online services like Indeed?
Jason Connors: Posting a job on Indeed is a stagnant task. The business owner writes their own job listing, posts it, and gets resumes from whoever chooses to apply over a 30-day period. Look at that versus a business owner who calls a firm like AllSearch. The business owner calls us with a need. They get a customized experience designed to meet their specific need, no matter how long it takes. We talk about the open position, their challenges in filling this role, the selling points of their company, their culture, what type of hire has worked for them in the past, etc. Then we take all this information to our service team of sourcers, digital marketing experts, and recruiters and this internal team goes to work to find the best possible candidates for the employer. And there is no end date for these efforts. The work ends when the right candidate is hired.
Keller-Brown: 2020 and 2021 have drastically impacted the job market. What tips do you have for attracting and retaining top talent?
Jason Connors: Simple: MOVE QUICKLY. Candidates control today's job market. And everyone, including your competitors, are after the same talent. If you are not ready to move quickly, don't even waste your time kicking the tires on a search.
The employers that win the best talent these days are 100 percent the ones that move lightning fast. Speed up your interview process, combine multiple interview stages into one, set up final interviews immediately after the initial interviews, and MAKE THE OFFER when you have a candidate that has what you need. I heard this quote not too long ago: "You will lose the best in search of better." When you have a candidate who fits, hire them! In today's incredibly tight market for talent, holding out for "perfect" is a terrible strategy, especially when you have a candidate who checks most of the boxes and is interested right in front of you.
Keller-Brown: What hiring / job marketing trends do you predict will happen in 2022 for candidates and hiring managers?
Jason Connors: Honestly, I think that 2022 will be a repeat of where we are in 2021. There is no slowdown in sight in terms of demand for talent. Job seekers will continue to control the hiring landscape throughout 2022. As an employer, your focus needs to continue to be aimed first at retaining your existing staff and thus minimizing your need to hire. Then, when you are hiring, make sure you are ready to work fast so that you are catering to the job seeker, as they are very much in control.
Keller-Brown: Why do you enjoy being a Keller-Brown customer?
Brian Connors: Over our 20 years in business, we admittedly churned through quite a few business vendors, and our insurance providers were no exception. At one point I think we went through five in five years in the early 2000s. What always seemed to be lacking was any level of proactive thought and action about "what might be," which was ironic, since, by definition, insurance is a proactive protection of what might one day be.
When relocating our business from Baltimore to York around eight years ago, we tripped across Keller-Brown and from there everything changed. We've been with the company ever since. Keller-Brown is just so on top of every topic. I appreciate the timely communication, highly proactive reach outs (but never annoying or salesy) to make sure we understand the endless changes happening in the business world.
We are many years into our Keller-Brown relationship now and are just as happy as ever. Our business is covered at a much deeper, more thorough level than ever before, and yet I don't think our premium levels are even in the ballpark of how high they were back in the days when we seemed to churn through one after another "big city Baltimore insurance broker." We couldn't recommend Keller-Brown more enthusiastically. You are in better hands with them.
Whether you are a client looking for premier talent, or a candidate looking for a rewarding career opportunity, AllSearch Professional Staffing can help you reach your goals.
