No doubt about it, we are spending a lot more time in our yards, so why not make them as beautiful as possible? Almony's Property Solutions provides everything you need to take your yard from OK to oasis. We spoke to Vice President/Office Manager Carrie Almony to learn more about the company and the services it offers, including intricate landscape and hardscape design and lawn maintenance. She also provided top tips for maintaining a healthy yard.
Keller-Brown: Describe your business and mission. How did you get started?
Carrie Almony: Our mission is to consistently provide high-quality and reliable property services through teamwork, professionalism, and dedication to customer satisfaction.
At Almony's Property Solutions, we specialize in creating exquisite home lawns, landscape, and hardscape creations. We value and appreciate the trust clients place in our company and are committed to the highest standards for our work crews and everyone associated with our company. We are dedicated to having the proper equipment, training, employees, and professional partners to handle any job. Our clients' complete satisfaction is our daily goal and we look forward to helping clients fulfill their dreams for stunning yards.
Our company began in 1998 when then 18-year-old high schooler Brian Almony began providing lawn maintenance services for local properties in New Freedom, Pennsylvania. Then known as Almony's Lawn Service, the company consistently grew and added multiple employees year after year. Brian and I married and in 2006 we incorporated the company as Almony's Property Maintenance. Our first child was born in August of the same year and forever changed our outlook on life and the importance of work and happiness. The company continued to grow and by May 2008 I was able to become a work-from-home mother, devoting my time and energy to our family and company. Our son soon followed in July, enlarging our drive and determination to provide a happy and healthy lifestyle. We are a happily married team both personally and professionally, with two beautiful and intelligent children and a drive for success.
Almony's Property Solutions has grown into one of the most well-known and respected premier lawn service, landscape, hardscape, and excavation companies in the York County, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore County, Maryland, areas. The Almony team's focus is on providing services in a timely and professional manner, with the utmost respect and loyalty for our client's properties. We pride ourselves in having retained many of our clients since 1998. We live within the communities that we serve and are grateful to clients who support us to do what we enjoy, day in and day out!
Keller-Brown: How can customers seek out a professional for snow removal and not an inexperienced person with a side hustle? Any red flags to look for?
Carrie Almony: Snow removal services aren't as easy as you may think. Services can be performed on a per visit or per hourly basis. The unknowns can be unsettling, especially for businesses that need to plan a budget year to year. We provide commercial snow removal services to clients for the Shrewsbury, New Freedom, Glen Rock, and southern York areas. With over 23 years of providing this service, we have seen too many casualties to mention, and we have dealt with our fair share of incidents, each of which was handled in a professional and timely manner with the help of our Keller-Brown agents. Snow removal takes skill and understanding of the property, layout, site specifics, drainage, and stormwater, and ultimately the most expedient method to complete the task. When we prepare for the snow season we discuss each property and the most efficient means to handle the storm from preparation to completion before it's Go-Time!
Keller-Brown: How can customers contact your company for snow removal?
Carrie Almony: We are blessed to serve the same properties year after year. We may add a new property every few years, but for the most part, we maintain the same nearly 31 acres of plowable surface every year. Our consistency provides job security for our employees throughout the winter months. It is not a fun task, but it's surely a necessity.
Keller-Brown: When should customers start thinking about landscaping plans for the warmer weather?
Carrie Almony: The steps from consultation, design options, and final details to price quotes are no simple task. We walk the client through their options with the goal of implementing their desires and meeting every need. We understand that their home is their biggest investment in life so no project should ever be taken lightly. At Almony's, once the New Year clock ticks over, we're already in full throttle thinking, planning, and preparing for the spring rush. From January 2nd until the weather warms is our busiest time of year in the office.
When planning for a project, and considering the timeline, we suggest clients think six months in advance of their desired project completion. Some design details can take much longer, especially right now with supply chain setbacks, so don't ever think you are starting to plan too early.
Keller-Brown: What are your top tips for maintaining a healthy yard?
Carrie Almony: Here are some great tips that homeowners can do to help keep their lawn most healthy:
-
Mowing - Mow your lawn no less than 3½ inches high. Our properties are mowed at 3-¾ inches to 4 inches on a weekly basis. The root system is key to your lawn's appearance and the root will grow as deep into the soil as the blade will grow above the soil. The shorter the lawn is mowed, the shorter the root system. The shorter the root system, the less root available to take in the water and nutrients needed to be healthy.
-
Treatments - Weeds are more powerful than healthy grass; they will overtake and suffocate the healthy grass, leaving you with a lawn full of ugly, nuisance weeds. Treatments do not need to be chemicals, as there are natural means for handling weeds. However, the natural means for handling weeds is a process. The products used for lawn, tree, shrub, and other treatments are a low product to water ratio and are not considered toxic to humans or animals.
Keller-Brown: What other local companies do you like to support and why?
Carrie Almony: Going into our 24th season as entrepreneurs in the southern York County and northern Baltimore County areas, we support our local business owners, colleagues, and friends. We also own Titanium Athletics in Glen Rock, the family recreational facility promoting youth activities, so we strongly believe in supporting those in and around our community. We live and work among countless passionate and successful entrepreneurs. Get out and support these exceptional, hardworking, kind, and considerate people. We enjoy lunches at The Markets at Shrewsbury and dinners at Mason Dixon Family Restaurant. There are also wonderful community groups and organizations providing much-needed services that are always looking for volunteers.
Keller-Brown: What do you enjoy most about being a Keller-Brown customer?
Carrie Almony: Almony's Property Solutions has been a Keller-Brown client since Brian began our business. As a business owner, any time you are able to build a trusting relationship with another business and their team and know that you can rely on them when needed, whether it be a simple task or an emergency, that is most appreciated. We value the relationships we have built with the Keller-Brown team and have never been disappointed.
