Customer Spotlight: Burtt Baking Company

November 16, 2021 -

Katie Burtt is passionate about creating delicious, home-baked goods that bring folks together over a cup of coffee and good conversation. That's why she created Burtt Baking Co., a home bakery located in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania. Her made-from-scratch treats include pies, cookies, muffins, and scones. Looking for a keto goodie? Katie's got you covered with keto cookies, muffins, and biscotti. And her cookie decorating kits are perfect for making memories and sharing giggles during the holidays and special occasions!

We talked to Katie to learn more about her business and the homemade happiness it brings.

Keller-Brown: Describe your background and the company's mission. Why did you start Burtt Baking Co?

Katie: I grew up in a large family and my mom and grandma baked with us kids all the time. We made cookies at Christmas, pies at Thanksgiving, cakes at birthdays, and treats throughout the year. I have fond memories of those times and want to help other people create a similar atmosphere with their family and friends. Baked goods are a great way to bring people together!

I started Burtt Baking Co. because I wanted to do something that brought me joy. Baking definitely does that for me.

Keller-Brown: What's the most popular holiday item people order?

Katie: It depends on the holiday. At Thanksgiving, it is either pies or pumpkin cookies. At Christmas, it is a tie between cinnamon rolls and cookie decorating kits.

Keller-Brown: What's your favorite treat to make and why?

Katie: I enjoy making Christmas cookies, probably because it reminds me of all those years doing it with my mom and grandma.

Keller-Brown: Why is having the proper insurance important for small businesses?

Katie: So many things can happen when you're running a small business. It's helpful to know that you're covered in case something weird comes up!

Keller-Brown: Small Business Saturday is coming up. What other local businesses do you like to support?

Katie: I work with so many amazing people that it's hard to narrow it down! I love Brabble Hill Farm, Mother Truffula, This is a Farmhouse, Glen Rock Mill Inn, Northern Central Railway, Belmont Bean Company, Hazel and Harriet, and Heron's Hollow to name a few.

Keller-Brown: Why do you like being a Keller-Brown customer?

Katie: The folks at Keller-Brown are friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with!

Keller-Brown: How can customers order from your shop and what is the cut-off date for holiday orders?

Katie: The best way to order is to check out my website. The cutoff date for Thanksgiving orders is November 18th and the cutoff for Christmas orders is December 16th. Whether folks are looking for sweets for their next event, snacks for a business gathering, or just a yummy pick-me-up during a hard week, I'm happy to help!
