Who are some of your heroes? War veterans? Movie stars, athletes, and musicians? Billionaires? Doctors and nurses are certainly unquestionably on this list, wearing their scrubs as capes. Another hero has been called to duty and rise to the challenge of our time: Saubel's Markets.
Their motto reads, 'We put the home in homemade' but during COVID-19, I would say they 'put the home in hometown hero.' Many of us, like your Keller-Brown agents, are blessed to be able to work from home, but the team at Saubel's is working on the frontlines of this virus battle. They're hustling like never before to put food on our tables (and toilet paper in our bathrooms!). Many retail stores have understandably shut down and laid off employees due to the virus and Saubel's has been able to hire some of these individuals based on the increased demand seen in their 4 stores.
The next time you visit a grocery store, in addition to filling your cart, consider the logistics it takes to get product from suppliers into the store. The Saubel's family has gone beyond their traditional supply channel, tapping all resources to be able to bring supplies to our families. Often, this means their shelves are stocked more than larger chain stores and national competitors. To fulfil our demand, their team works through the night, and management is often working 22 hours a day, to keep the shelves full for us.
The Saubel's family, a 3rd generation family business, is fully involved in operations. Owners Greg and Betti work alongside their 4th-generation children Bobby and Kelsi. Their son, Adam, is a financial planner but has been helping through this situation providing much needed help. Their family also includes over 350 employees who are all working together to bring food to our community.
You can visit their four locations in Shrewsbury, Stewartstown, Whiteford, and East York. With their full-service pharmacy in Shrewsbury and Whiteford, you can reduce the amount of trips you need to take when you do need to leave the house. They also have an award-winning bakery, and all the other departments up and running.
Follow them on Facebook and you'll find updates on high-demand items arriving in stores (like toilet paper, hand sanitizer, bleach, etc), as well as locations that offer curbside pickup.
The coronavirus has affected us all and one thing we simply can't go without is food. Saubel's Markets is there for our local community. The next time you visit one of their stores, thank one of their heroes. Their capes are the blue or black t-shirts with the Saubel's logo.
