How long have you been in this industry? And what have you learned over the years?
I'm approaching 20 years in the HVAC business and have owned my own company for 10 years. Throughout my career as an HVAC professional, I've observed that energy prices and weather are major factors influencing customer decisions. With energy prices on the rise due to inflation, it's now more important than ever to have an energy efficient HVAC system in your home.
Tell us about the services you provide.
We offer a wide range of services in heating, cooling and plumbing. Our technicians are skilled in maintaining, servicing and replacing air conditioning and heating units. In addition to HVAC, we also offer full-service plumbing. We're experienced in general maintenance of drains, garbage disposals and faucets as well as repairs and installation. Whether your home is in need of a new air conditioner or sewer excavation and repair, our team can take care of it.
How can homeowners extend the life of their HVAC system?
The most important thing anyone can do is stay on top of routine maintenance for their HVAC system. At Miller Home Climate Control, we offer maintenance contracts. We highly recommend these to homeowners because they ensure you have a reliable and skilled technician available to you to help extend the life of your HVAC system.
Is it more cost effective to invest in an energy-efficient HVAC system or to maintain your existing system?
That's a great question and certainly something that varies on a case by case basis. When making that decision, people should consider speaking to a technician. When performing routine maintenance, we can take a look at some important factors that contribute to the system's overall energy usage like its age, condition and general efficiency to offer a suggestion about what might be the most cost-effective option based on their unique situation.
What are the most common HVAC problems you encounter during the summer, and how can they be prevented?
People often overlook the importance of HVAC maintenance. Without regular tune-ups, your HVAC system could be at risk for a breakdown—leaving you without air conditioning during the sweltering summer months.
To avoid breakdowns, we recommend homeowners perform maintenance roughly once a year for air conditioning and the same goes for heat. It's also important to change air filters on a regular basis.
With a service agreement, customers receive two check-ins a year, performed in advance of the summer and winter months when cooling and heating are most important. Performing these tune-ups early helps ensure customers are prepared for the peak seasons.
Why is strong insurance coverage important for small business owners like you?
As a small business, we don't have access to large amounts of capital. If we were to be hit with massive expenses due to a major disaster, we simply wouldn't be able to cover it. Insurance provides that blanket of protection to cover any major expenses.
How has insurance protected your company?
Insurance was crucial when one of our trucks was broken into. During the break-in, thieves made off with over $10,000 in tools. Although the thieves were caught, we likely would not have recovered the losses without insurance. Fortunately, we have a good policy, and the claim was covered.
What's your favorite thing about Keller-Brown Insurance Services?
Keller-Brown Insurance is a great local business that provides personalized service. These days, it's rare that you get to actually talk to a person, and Keller-Brown Insurance provides that important connection.
